Sylhet Soars with Seamless Service: Free Wi-Fi and Phones at Osmani Airport

At Hazrat Shahjalal’s (RA) memory-laden land of tea, Sylhet’s Osmani International Airport has launched complimentary internet access and telephone services. State-owned telecom operator BTCL inaugurated a ‘Free Wi-Fi’ zone and ‘Free Telephone Booth’ at the airport.

On Saturday, September 6, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser in charge of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, tested the connection on his own phone to inaugurate the new services. Sylhet Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarwar Alam, BTCL Sylhet Division General Manager Saidur Rahman, and Deputy General Manager Mihir Roy were present on the occasion.

Following the inauguration, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb stated that the service was introduced to facilitate communication for both incoming and outgoing international passengers. He further added that within the next few days, the entire airport will be brought under free Wi-Fi coverage.

Earlier, on February 3, 2020, in an initiative by the Civil Aviation Authority to make Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport more passenger-friendly, BTCL had set up free telephone booths.
