National Citizen Party (NCP) Convenor Nahid Islam issued a stern warning stating that the proposed cyber law will not be allowed to pass in the National Parliament under any circumstances. He made this declaration as the chief guest during a weeklong leaflet distribution campaign organized by NCP in Karwan Bazar, Dhaka, on Friday afternoon, October 23. Correspondent sources reported that if restrictions are placed on freedom of thought across modern digital platforms and social media, the party will initiate strict street movements.

The party conveyed that this political program was organized to protest the deteriorating law and order situation, rising essential commodity prices, fuel price hikes, and politicization of state institutions, as well as to curb the curtailment of freedom of expression under the guise of cyber security protocols. NCP Convenor Nahid Islam alleged in his speech that at least 22 individuals have been arrested for criticizing government policies on social media platforms, describing it as a direct blow to free expression and digital civil liberties.

He further stated that attempts are being made to introduce an even more repressive legal framework in the upcoming parliamentary session under the guise of amending past contentious digital security statutes. He added that such measures aim to prevent media outlets from publishing objective information and silence citizens' commentary across digital networks. He demanded the immediate scrap of the proposed legislation alongside authoritarian legal clauses.

Key NCP leaders, including Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, Dhaka North mayoral candidate Asif Mahmud, and Dhaka South mayoral candidate Nasiruddin Patwari, were present at the event.

Additionally, the party raised demands for cabinet restructuring by replacing current home and energy ministers, alongside ensuring specific trials for July killings. To press home these demands and protest the proposed cyber law, NCP officially announced a massive public rally at Shahbagh on August 30 at 3:00 PM. Experts note that striking a balance between cyber governance and fundamental digital rights remains vital for the nation's tech ecosystem.
