Sakib Ibn Saeed Steers to Victory in Nagad’s Thrilling Convertible Car Championship
For the first time in Bangladesh, a convertible car driving championship has crowned its inaugural champion. Sakib Ibn Saeed, a student of United International University (UIU), clinched the top spot in this adrenaline-pumping event, organized by Nagad, the mobile financial service of the Bangladesh Post Office, in celebration of World Friendship Day.
Held at Fantasy Kingdom Theme Park in Savar, the daylong event featured group-based qualifying rounds, semifinals, and a high-energy final. A total of 50 top students from 12 universities across the country participated in the competition.
Sakib Ibn Saeed emerged as the champion, winning a prize of BDT 50,000 and a trophy. Reflecting on his victory, he said, “This competition will inspire more youth to engage in moto racing and encourage them to participate in international races in the future.”
The first runner-up was Zubayer Hossain from Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, who received BDT 30,000 and a trophy. The second runner-up, Sayyid Hossain Chandan, also from UIU, was awarded BDT 20,000 in cash.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Khandakar Shahnur Sabbir, Assistant Administrator of Nagad and Deputy Postmaster General of BPO, who congratulated all participants and especially the winners. “I’m overwhelmed by the enthusiastic participation of the youth in such a unique event. Motorsports is still a novel field in Bangladesh, and within this novelty lies a vast opportunity for young people to gain valuable experience,” he said.
Simon Imran Haider, Chief Marketing Officer of Nagad, added, “Nagad has always stood beside the dynamism of youth and will continue to do so. We believe the progressive and innovative spirit of the younger generation will pave the way for economic prosperity in Bangladesh.” He further noted that Nagad plans to organize more large-scale events in the future to promote youth engagement in sports and competitive challenges.
