The Bangladesh national team is set to participate in the 27th International Robot Olympiad (IRO), scheduled to be held this December in Gold Coast, Australia. To form the team and ignite interest in robotics among students across the country, the online registration for the International Robot Olympiad Bangladesh Open 2025 has officially commenced.

The registration campaign will continue until August 20. In tandem with this initiative, activation workshops are being conducted in all eight divisions of the country to inform and encourage school and college students about robotics and the Olympiad.

To prepare for international participation, the Bangladesh Robot Olympiad (BDRO) and Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN) have jointly launched the national team selection process.

This year’s Bangladesh Open will follow the central theme set by the International Robot Olympiad Committee (IROC) for the 27th IRO: Space Robot. Various categories under this theme will include Creative, Creative Movie, and Physical Computing. Competitions will be held in three age divisions: Junior Low (Grades 1–4), Junior High (Grades 5–6), and Senior (Grades 7–12). As in previous years, a special Robotics Quiz will be held during the national phase to encourage enthusiasm, although this event will not be part of the international segment.

Since 2018, Bangladesh has been a consistent participant in the Robot Olympiad, achieving remarkable success each year.

Most recently, a 10-member team represented Bangladesh in the 26th International Robot Olympiad in Busan, South Korea, securing a total of 10 medals—2 Gold, 4 Silver, and 4 Bronze. Over the past seven years, Bangladeshi participants have earned global recognition by winning a cumulative 14 Gold, 22 Silver, and 28 Bronze medals in the IRO.
