NSTU Students Form Human Chain Demanding Internal Teacher as Treasurer
Jul 26, 2026 14:16

Students of Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) formed a human chain demanding the appointment of a qualified internal teacher from the university to the vacant post of Treasurer. The students emphasized that an internal faculty member with administrative experience is best suited to safeguard the university's financial interests, development needs, and operational realities.

On July 26, Sunday, at 11:00 AM, students from various departments gathered under the banner of 'Students' at the Central Shaheed Minar premises on the campus to hold the demonstration.

Speaking at the human chain, Jahid, a student from the Applied Mathematics department, stated, "While teachers from other universities can apply, as NSTU students, we want to see a qualified teacher from our own university as the treasurer."

Another participating student, Rimon, noted that an internal teacher understands the challenges and potential of the institution best, making them ideal for making financial decisions and managing development initiatives.

The position of treasurer at NSTU has remained vacant since June 7, following the appointment of former treasurer Professor Dr. Hanif Murad as the Vice-Chancellor of Lakshmipur Science and Technology University. The recent rumors regarding the potential appointment of a professor from another university have sparked widespread debate and resentment across the campus.
