Biomedical Breakthroughs: JUST Holds National Conference Highlighting Innovation and Collaboration
The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST) held its first-ever National Conference on June 22, bringing together researchers, industry professionals, and students to spotlight innovation at the intersection of engineering and medicine. The event, titled "Research, Industry and Collaboration in Biomedical Engineering," took place at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology Gallery in the Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose Academic Building.
Attending the conference were faculty and students from various universities, with JUST Treasurer Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun present as the special guest. In his address, Professor Mamun emphasized the importance of the university’s month-long "Conference Carnival" initiative, which seeks to unify knowledge-sharing platforms across disciplines.
“Through these conferences, our students gain not only academic exposure but also develop as globally competent professionals,” he said. “Such engagement not only enhances individual career growth but also contributes to national progress.”
Speaking directly to students, he added, “Biomedical engineering is rapidly expanding across the globe. By integrating engineering with modern medical science, you can help lead this nation toward new innovations. Your research will be instrumental in shaping the future.”
The keynote speakers included Dr. Mohammad Tarik Arafat from the Department of Biomedical Engineering at BUET; Dr. Md. Bashir Uddin from KUET; Dr. Md. Asadur Rahman from the Military Institute of Science and Technology; and Dr. Jamiul Hossain, Director of the Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences. Their presentations featured research insights and technological advancements in biomedical engineering, with a focus on developing improved healthcare solutions.
The conference commenced at 10:00 AM with a quiz competition. Following the initial session, a project exhibition and poster presentation began at 2:00 PM, with participants from BUET, KUET, MIST, and other institutions. The day concluded at 4:00 PM with a certificate distribution ceremony and awards for outstanding project and poster presentations.
Special guest Dr. Md. Amzad Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at JUST, also addressed the audience. The conference was chaired by Dr. Hasan Md. Al Imran, Head of the BME Department and Conference Convener. Faculty and students from JUST and other universities were in attendance. The event was hosted by Lecturer Anika Anjum of the BME Department.
