Honda’s Hybrid Hope: City e:HEV Hits Bangladeshi Roads

Honda has officially introduced its latest hybrid vehicle, the Honda City e:HEV, to the Bangladeshi market. The new hybrid model, with a 1500cc engine, promises a fuel efficiency of 22–25 kilometers per liter, according to Honda authorities.

Powered by dual electric motors and an advanced Atkinson cycle engine, the City e:HEV also features a regenerative braking system, which recharges the battery each time the brakes are applied—making the vehicle significantly more fuel-efficient.

The steering is telescopic, allowing the driver to adjust it for comfort. It comes with cruise control, enabling safe distance maintenance from the vehicle ahead without using the accelerator or brake, further enhancing fuel economy. In place of a traditional manual handbrake, the car features an electronic parking button.

While in city traffic, the vehicle operates in electric mode, while on highways at higher speeds, it switches to engine mode.

Priced at BDT 3,990,000, the car is positioned as a premium city vehicle. However, to accommodate the hybrid battery placed beneath the rear seat, cargo space has been reduced to 360 liters. Although a spare tire is not included, the vehicle comes with a tire installation kit.

To enhance passenger comfort, a rear AC vent has been placed centrally in the back seat, directly above a built-in charging port.

The car was unveiled on June 20 at the Tejgaon showroom of Honda’s official distributor, DHS Motors Limited. Present at the launch were DHS Motors CEO Imran Zaman Khan, General Manager Arman Rashid, Farhan Samad, and special guest and vocalist of Nemesis, Zohad Reza Chowdhury.

The event featured a presentation on the new vehicle and a sim-racing competition for attendees, with prizes awarded to the winners.
