A U.S. appeals court has denied Apple’s request to block developers from including external web links and alternative payment methods on its App Store, according to a report by The Verge.

The ruling stems from a 2020 lawsuit filed by Epic Games. In April this year, a district court ordered Apple to allow developers to add links to external websites and to refrain from restricting alternative payment options.

Apple appealed the ruling and sought a stay on its enforcement. However, the appeals court rejected the tech giant’s plea, clearing the way for apps like Spotify, Kindle, and Fortnite to continue enabling purchases through external links.

In response, Apple stated that it is "disappointed with the decision" and will "present its position during the appeals process." Nonetheless, legal analysts believe this development further weakens Apple’s chances of overturning the original ruling.
