Highway Police Launches 'Hello HP' App for Safer Roads
The Highway Police has officially launched its new digital platform, Hello HP, a mobile application aimed at enhancing safety on highways across Bangladesh. The inauguration was led virtually by Additional Inspector General of Highway Police Delwar Hossain Miah, with the participation of heads from eight regional Highway Police offices.
Describing Hello HP as a significant digital initiative, the Highway Police emphasized that the app is designed to reduce road accidents and ensure safer travel for highway passengers. It also functions as an alternative to the national emergency service, 999.
The inauguration took place on Thursday, June 5, at the Highway Police Headquarters conference center in Uttara, Dhaka. During the video conference, the Highway Police chief highlighted the app's key features, explaining, “By pressing the emergency help button in the app, users can automatically connect with the nearest Highway Police patrol team in any situation on the highway. If the first patrol team fails to respond, the call will be forwarded to the next closest unit.”
The app also provides real-time updates on road conditions, including traffic jams, roadblocks, and alternative routes. Additionally, the Traveler’s Map feature shows locations and contact numbers for highway police stations, local police stations, fire stations, hospitals, filling stations, workshops, restaurants, and livestock markets.
Delwar Hossain Miah urged the public to use the Hello HP app and take advantage of its safety features. A download link for the app was also shared during the launch event.
Among those present at the inauguration were DIG (Administration) Imtiaz Ahmed, DIG (Operations) Md. Shafiqul Islam, DIG (East) Habibur Rahman Khan, DIG (West) Md. Similarly, in Cumilla, a press conference was organized at Cumilla Press Club, where Additional DIG Mir Modasser Hossain, Additional DIG Md. Khairul Alam, and General Secretary of Cumilla Press Club Zahid Hasan addressed the event.

Additionally, 400 team in-charges on duty across the highway are equipped with body-worn cameras.
