BTRC to Host Multistakeholder Meeting on Modernizing Telecom Licensing and Network Topology

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) is set to hold a multistakeholder meeting aimed at developing and modernizing the country’s network topology and telecom licensing framework. The meeting will take place on Tuesday at the main conference hall of the BTRC building in Agargaon, Dhaka.

Chaired by BTRC Chairman Major General (Retd.) Md. Emdad Ul Bari, the meeting will bring together policymakers, all commissioners of the commission, directors-general, directors, academics, telecom law specialists, leading experts from the telecom, ICT, and digital industries, and other stakeholders associated with the telecommunication sector.

According to sources, the meeting will focus on discussions surrounding the modernization of the country’s telecommunications infrastructure, improving service quality, and ensuring affordable services. Topics such as the implementation of 5G networks and next-generation technologies, digital inclusion in rural areas, reducing costs for consumers through competition, and enhancing service quality will be prioritized. Participants will also provide recommendations on developing effective connectivity systems, upgrading existing frameworks, ensuring transparency and competitiveness for service providers, and delivering better services in remote and rural regions.

BTRC hopes the meeting will pave the way for sustainable development in the telecommunications sector while ensuring more affordable services for consumers.

Network topology, which plays a crucial role in efficiently managing the country’s telecommunications infrastructure, will also be addressed. It facilitates connectivity between operators, data exchange, and maintaining service stability for customers.
