Reddit Recovers Rapidly After Widespread Outage
Popular social media and forum platform Reddit experienced a major global outage on Monday morning, according to a report by TechCrunch.
Data from Downdetector indicated that connectivity issues began around 11:20 AM Eastern Time, with over 90,000 users reporting problems at the peak of the disruption.
Reddit’s own server monitoring site, Reddit Status, reported at 11:52 AM that the website and app were experiencing a “high rate of errors” and that investigations were underway.
Within minutes, Reddit announced that the source of the problem had been identified. A fix was implemented at 12:10 PM, and by 12:21 PM, Reddit Status confirmed that all systems were operating normally.
A Reddit spokesperson told the media, “We were briefly unable to connect to a database, which caused the outage. A fix was quickly implemented, and everything is back to normal now.”
