Farin’s ‘Fatima’ Finds a New Home on Bongo OTT
After making rounds at festivals and enjoying a limited theatrical release, actress Tasnia Farin’s first domestic feature film Fatima is set to premiere on the OTT platform Bongo on April 17. Alongside Farin, the film features performances by Yash Rohan, Tariq Anam Khan, Pantho Kanai, and Manas Bandyopadhyay, among others.
The news of the film’s long-awaited digital release was confirmed by director Dhrubo Hasan. Although the film was initially slated for an OTT release on February 20, it was postponed at the time. Now, nearly a year after its theatrical debut, the emotionally resonant film—centering on a woman’s past and present, her dreams and the clash with reality—will finally be available for streaming.
Sharing his excitement over the OTT release, Dhrubo Hasan stated, “It’s finally releasing on OTT. I feel good about it, especially because many of my friends living abroad will now be able to watch it. Also, a wider audience will be able to access it through OTT, which makes me happy.”
The film, originally titled Dahokal, was in the making for eight years before being renamed Fatima. It was released in theaters on May 24 last year, following its premiere at the 42nd Fajr International Film Festival in Iran. Tasnia Farin received the Best Actress award at the festival for her performance, and the film was well-received by both critics and audiences.
Recalling her journey with the film, Tasnia Farin shared, “When the director suddenly called after almost eight years to say he would finish the film, I was surprised. But completing Fatima, releasing it, and receiving the Best Actress award for it was an incredibly beautiful experience. Now that it’s releasing on OTT, that too is wonderful news for me.”
Notably, Fatima also won the Best Film award at the Rainbow International Film Festival in London.
