Tesla Tech Chief to Tender Resignation Amid Market Tumbles
David Lau, Vice President of Software Engineering at Tesla, is stepping down from his role, according to a report by Bloomberg News published on Friday. The report states that Lau has already communicated his decision internally. (Source: Reuters)
Lau has been with Tesla for over 12 years and has held his current position since 2017. His team has been responsible for overseeing the software systems in Tesla vehicles, along with the company’s cloud services and manufacturing infrastructure.
Neither Tesla nor Lau has responded to Reuters’ request for comment regarding the resignation.
Meanwhile, Tesla shares plunged nearly 10% on Friday, following former U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of new tariffs, which triggered retaliatory tariffs from China. The development has further intensified the ongoing trade tensions between the world’s two largest economies.
