The government of Bangladesh has launched an ambitious project to establish Technical School and Colleges (TSCs) in 329 upazilas across the country, with a total allocation of Tk 20,500 crore under the initiative.

The announcement was made by Shoayeb Ahmed Khan, Director General of the Directorate of Technical Education, during a discussion with journalists at the Habiganj Circuit House on Saturday, April 5.

“There is a strong demand for skilled manpower abroad, yet Bangladesh is unable to meet that demand,” the Director General said. “Around 15 million Bangladeshis are working overseas in low-wage jobs, and as a result, the country is not earning foreign remittance at the expected level. The government has taken up this project to change that scenario.”

He further noted that TSCs will be constructed in several upazilas of Habiganj district, including Ajmiriganj, Nabiganj, Bahubal, Shayestaganj, Chunarughat, and Lakhai.

“Each upazila will have three acres of land acquired for the project,” he said. “If any philanthropist is willing to donate land, the government will gladly accept it.” He also mentioned that land for Nabiganj and Bahubal TSCs has already been donated by two generous individuals.
