Surge in Demand: Millions Attempt to Book Eid Train Tickets Online

Online ticket sales for Eid-ul-Fitr travel witnessed an overwhelming response on Tuesday morning, as eager passengers attempted to book advance tickets for March 28. According to railway authorities, the ticketing system recorded 116 million hits between 8:00 AM and 8:30 AM, reflecting an immense demand for holiday travel.

Railway data reveals that for train journeys scheduled on March 27, the total number of seats available on trains departing from Dhaka stands at 33,199, while the nationwide availability is 175,630 seats.

By 8:15 AM, a total of 10,667 tickets were sold for trains departing from Dhaka, while across the country, 14,598 tickets had been booked. Just 15 minutes later, at 8:30 AM, ticket sales surged to 14,522 for Dhaka-bound trains and 19,834 nationwide.

In the first 30 minutes alone, the system experienced 150 million hits as travelers scrambled to secure their tickets. For journeys scheduled on March 28, 16,565 tickets are allocated for trains on the Eastern Zone, while 16,634 tickets are available for the Western Zone of Bangladesh Railway.
