Alphabet Eyes Historic $30 Billion Acquisition of Cybersecurity Firm Wiz

Tech giant Alphabet, the parent company of Google, has reportedly made an offer exceeding $30 billion to acquire Israeli cybersecurity firm Wiz, marking what could become its largest-ever acquisition, according to Reuters.

In 2024, Alphabet had initially proposed a $23 billion deal, but Wiz declined the offer, citing concerns over potential antitrust complications. At the time, the firm was considering going public through an initial public offering (IPO).

If the acquisition materializes, it will significantly strengthen Alphabet’s position in the cybersecurity sector while expanding its cloud business. Alphabet’s Google Cloud division generated over $43 billion in revenue in 2024, reflecting its growing influence in the industry.

Wiz specializes in AI-driven cloud security solutions and collaborates with major cloud platforms, including Microsoft and Amazon Web Services (AWS). The company provides cybersecurity services to high-profile clients, such as Morgan Stanley and DocuSign.

Despite expectations that antitrust regulations in the United States might be eased under a potential Donald Trump administration, such a major cybersecurity acquisition would still be subject to rigorous scrutiny by regulators.
