ICT Stakeholders Advocate for Local Empowerment and Market Expansion

Bangladesh’s ICT stakeholders are aiming to empower small entrepreneurs and create new international markets by leveraging advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain. Industry leaders have urged the government to regulate the import of foreign software and prioritize local companies in government projects rather than acting as a vendor itself.

This call was made during a grand iftar party organized by ICT Stakeholders, a non-political and open platform for Bangladesh’s technology sector, as part of a month-long meetup series. The event took place on Saturday at Armani Lounge in Bashundhara, bringing together ICT entrepreneurs from Gulshan, Tejgaon, Banani, Rampura, Badda, Mohakhali, Banasree, and Baridhara. The pre-iftar discussion featured speeches from key figures in the industry, alongside insights and recommendations from small entrepreneurs.

Speakers emphasized the need for strong, politically neutral leadership in business organizations such as BASIS, e-CAB, and BACCO. They also highlighted the importance of collective growth over individual expansion in the industry.

Among the notable speakers at the event were Engr. Md. Jewel, Chairman of Trust IT BD Ltd.; Mohammad Faruk Ahmed, Community Manager of Open Source Bangladesh Alliance (OSBD); Ahsan Habib, Director of AGS Quality Action Ltd.; and Md. Moniruzzaman, Managing Director of OS IT Solutions Ltd.
