Legal Notice Issued for the Recruitment of Medical Technologists

A legal notice has been issued regarding the recruitment of medical technologists as per the 2013 job circular published by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). The notice was served on behalf of job seekers by Advocate Md. Iarul Islam, a Supreme Court lawyer, representing the President of the BPSMTA (Bangladesh Private and Unemployed Services Medical Technologists Association), Md. Shafiqul Islam, and other applicants.

In the notice, it was stated that in January 2013, the DGHS issued a recruitment circular for 420 positions for medical technologists. However, the recruitment process was halted after diploma holders from the Technical Education Board filed a writ petition in the High Court challenging the circular.

Following legal proceedings, the case was finally resolved by the Supreme Court in November 2016. Despite this, only two positions (Pharmacist/Assistant Community Medical Officer) were filled, while the recruitment process for medical technologists remained incomplete.

Additionally, the Ministry of Health issued a directive in 2019 to proceed with the recruitment, yet it was not implemented. The legal notice, served last Tuesday, has been sent to the Secretary of Public Administration, Secretary of Health, Secretary of Finance, Director General of DGHS, and the Director of Administration at DGHS, urging them to take immediate action in fulfilling the recruitment process.
