BTRC Removes 97% of Online Content Related to Magura Assault Victim

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has removed nearly 97% of the links containing images and videos of the child victim of sexual assault in Magura from Facebook and TikTok. The remaining content is in the process of being taken down, according to BTRC's Media and Communications Division.

On Tuesday, March 11, the division confirmed that 195 links had already been removed, with efforts ongoing to eliminate the remaining content and identify new links.

Officials involved in the process stated that the removal initiative began following a directive from the High Court, which ordered the deletion of all images and videos of the Magura child victim from social media platforms, including Facebook and TikTok. A total of 203 links were identified as part of this effort.

It is worth noting that on Sunday, March 9, the High Court instructed the removal of all images and videos of the victim from media outlets, online portals, and social media platforms. BTRC was directed to ensure full implementation of this order within 24 hours.
