Hybrid Highlight Hits Home Market
A new plug-in hybrid vehicle, the Deepal S05, has been introduced in Bangladesh with the capability to travel up to 1,234 kilometers on a full charge and full fuel tank. To support the vehicle’s charging needs, a nationwide EV charging network with 22 stations has already been established. Additionally, the car’s exclusive Bangladeshi distributor, DHS Autos, will install a home charger free of cost for every buyer.
At the launch event, it was announced that customers will receive a five-year warranty (subject to conditions), three years of free servicing, and an eight-year warranty on the EV motor and battery.
The vehicle was formally unveiled on Saturday, November 8, at the Deepal Bangladesh showroom in Tejgaon, Dhaka.
The event was attended by Changan’s Vice President for Southeast Asia, Guan Jin; Sales Manager Du Kaijian; DHS Autos Limited’s Divisional Director Shoaib Ahmed; Chief Operating Officer Shihab Ahmed; and Head of Sales Alfat Hossain Khan, among others.
Speaking at the event, DHS Autos’ Divisional Director Shoaib Ahmed said, “We are optimistic that the Deepal S05 will receive an overwhelming response in Bangladesh’s EV market. Technology-enthusiast consumers in this country will find in this vehicle a perfect blend of advanced engineering, performance, and premium comfort, ensuring a distinctive driving and travel experience.”
According to the announcement, the Deepal S05 features a PHEV powertrain with a four-cylinder, 16-valve VVT engine. Its electric motor can generate up to 160/218 HP and 320 Nm of torque. The battery capacity stands at 27.28 kWh.
The vehicle also offers an intelligent, noise-free cabin equipped with multiple smart technologies. These include an Advanced Driver-Assistance System (ADAS), Remote Straight In-and-Out Parking, a 540-degree camera view, and other safety and control features designed to enhance comfort and security for both the driver and passengers.
The interior is furnished with synthetic leather seats, a multifunction steering wheel, and a front passenger gravity seat. Other features include a 15.4-inch sunflower touchscreen display, a 14-speaker audio system, and rear AC vents. The car also comes with a panoramic glass roof paired with an electric sunshade, enhancing its premium aesthetic.
The Deepal S05 will be available in five colors: Moonlight White, Deep Space Black, Andromeda Blue, Mercury Silver, and Ganymede Grey.
Changan’s Southeast Asia Sales Manager Du Kaijian stated, “The Deepal S05 will further strengthen Changan’s presence in Bangladesh’s EV market. We are offering the vehicle at an affordable price without compromising on quality, performance, or design. Customers can purchase the Deepal S05 in any color for BDT 52 lakh, excluding registration costs.”
