Masterminds Behind Arson Attack on Content Creator’s Home Arrested
The Patuakhali District Detective Police have arrested Shahadat (22) and Mahfuz (21), the primary masterminds behind the arson attack on the residence of Facebook and YouTube content creator NuruZzaman Kafi in Kalapara Upazila, Patuakhali District.
According to a press release issued by the Patuakhali Superintendent of Police's Office on Monday, the arrests were made during late-night raids in Barishal and Patuakhali on Sunday, leading to the unearthing of crucial details behind the crime.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Md. Shahadat Howlader, son of Md. Nosa Howlader from Amtali, Barguna, and Mahfuz Molla, son of Md. Hiron Molla from Tiakhali, Kalapara, Patuakhali. Both of them were involved with the banned Chhatra League, as confirmed by both police officials and Kafi himself.
Incident Details
According to Superintendent of Police Md. Anwar Zahid, on February 12 at around 12:30 AM, some unidentified individuals set fire to the house of NuruZzaman Kafi while his family members were asleep. His father, mother, brother, and other relatives managed to escape through the back door and immediately alerted the Fire Service, which arrived promptly and brought the fire under control.
Following the incident, NuruZzaman Kafi filed a case with Kalapara Police Station. Based on gathered information, evidence, and technological support, Shahadat Howlader was arrested from the Kotwali Thana area of Barishal Metropolitan, while Mahfuz Molla was apprehended from the Sadar Thana area of Patuakhali.
Investigation Continues
Superintendent Anwar Zahid stated, "We are making every effort to apprehend any instigators, accomplices, or financial backers involved in the attack and bring them under the law."
