Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) has announced that any student found involved in political activities, upon investigation, will face the maximum penalty of lifetime expulsion and cancellation of their studentship.

This directive was issued in an urgent notice signed by Professor Dr. Md. Sultan Mahmud, Director of Student Welfare, and sent to the media on Monday, March 10.

The notice stated that, as per the decisions of KUET’s 93rd (emergency) and 98th (emergency) syndicate meetings, all forms of student involvement in political organizations have been strictly prohibited. Additionally, in accordance with the decision of the 98th (emergency) syndicate meeting, students found engaged in political activities will be subject to an investigation, following which they may face the severest penalty of lifetime expulsion and cancellation of their studentship.

Furthermore, the notice clarified that this decision aligns with Clause 20 of the Academic Ordinance Rules & Regulations on student discipline, which explicitly prohibits any student or group from engaging in political organizational activities. If a student is found directly involved in politics, they will be subjected to disciplinary action, with the maximum punishment being permanent expulsion from the university and the termination of their studentship.

The notice also urged all students to refrain from participating in any political activities within the university.
