Apple Maps May Introduce Advertisements

Apple is reportedly considering introducing advertisements in Apple Maps as part of its strategy to increase revenue from its services sector, according to Bloomberg, as cited by The Indian Times. This initiative would provide businesses with paid promotional opportunities, similar to Google Maps.

Discussions regarding ad integration in Apple Maps have taken place during the company’s board meetings. Although Apple has been contemplating this move since 2022, the plan was delayed for undisclosed reasons.

According to the report, Apple plans to display advertisements in a manner similar to Google Maps, where sponsored businesses will be prominently highlighted in search results.

In recent years, Apple has increased its focus on the services sector due to stagnation in hardware sales. Apple Insider reported that the company has generated over $10 billion in revenue solely from its services division.

Apple has also expanded its services to Android devices, including Apple TV, Apple Music, and Apple Music Classical. Moving forward, the company may further expand its service offerings while introducing new revenue streams, including advertisements.
