Instagram Introduces TikTok-Inspired Fast-Forward Feature for Reels
Meta-owned Instagram has once again replicated a TikTok feature by introducing a new option that allows users to play Reels videos at twice the speed. Users can increase playback speed by pressing and holding on the right or left side of the screen, according to a TechCrunch report.
Enhancing Short-Form Video Experience
Initially, Instagram Reels allowed videos of only 15 seconds, similar to TikTok. However, the platform now enables users to share videos up to three minutes long. With the growing habit of consuming content at a faster pace, Instagram has introduced this fast-forward feature to align with user preferences.
Boosting Engagement with Faster Playback
By allowing faster playback, Instagram aims to increase the likelihood of users watching longer videos until the end. This move reflects the platform’s ongoing adaptation to short-form entertainment trends, mirroring TikTok’s existing video speed adjustment feature.
