5th International Biotechnology Conference will be held in September

The 5th International Biotechnology Conference will be held at Nabab Nawab Ali Senate Building of Dhaka University from 1st to 3rd September. The key topic of this year's conference is: Biotechnology in Agriculture and Health. The conference is being organized jointly by GNOBB, Bangladesh Biosafety and Biosecurity Society (BBBS) and Federation of Asian Biotech Associations (FABA).

The theme of the first two days of the conference is 'Capacity building and public awareness for development of health, agriculture and environment'. This session will highlight the importance of Genetically Modified Organisms or GMOs in combating climate change, as well as the use of CRISPR technology. The main topic of discussion scheduled on the third day is 'Antimicrobial Resistance'. On September 1 at 9:30 in the morning, The Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Md. Akhtaruzzaman will be present at the inaugural session as the Chairman of the session.

Zeba Islam Seraj, President of Global Network of Bangladeshi Biotechnologists (GNOBB) and Professor of Dhaka University presented these information at a press conference held at the Biochemistry and Microbiology Department of Dhaka University on Tuesday. She said, 'One of the objectives of this event is to present the researches that our country's scientists are doing. At the same time, we want to gather together the scientists of agriculture, health and environment of the country and abroad.'

At that time, the Head of GNOBB Media Branch and Professor of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Department of Jagannath University, Lisa Ahmad Lisa; Dhaka University Department of Botany Professor Rakhyari Sarkar; GNOBB General Secretary, FABA President and ICDDR, Biosafety and BSL 3 Laboratory Head Asadulgani and BBBS President Chandan Kumar Roy were present.
