Grameenphone Academy, Grameenphone’s free online learning platform for young people, has organized an AI Bootcamp to equip aspiring innovators with practical skills to solve real-world problems and develop AI-powered digital products. The initiative provided 80 selected participants with hands-on learning and product development opportunities, helping them turn their ideas into digital solutions. Organized under the Academy’s broader AI Mission and aligned with Grameenphone’s AI&I programme, the bootcamp concluded with a final pitching and recognition event at GPHouse on October 12.

To help participants apply their learning in practice, Grameenphone Academy launched a No-Code AI Web Development Competition. Participants were challenged to build functional websites using AI prompts without any prior programming experience. The competition received more than 210 applications from educational institutions across Bangladesh, from which 80 participants were shortlisted for an intensive, expert-led AI Bootcamp.

Following the “Ideate, Build, Test” approach, the bootcamp guided participants through identifying real-world problems, developing AI-powered solutions and refining them into minimum viable products (MVPs). The programme focused on three areas: career, skills and MyGP.

The bootcamp culminated in a pitching event where participants presented their innovations. The team behind the Trajectory platform secured first place. The AI-powered platform evaluates users’ skills and CVs in real time, providing personalized career guidance, training recommendations and insights into potential career opportunities.

The team behind MyGP Care was named first runner-up. The AI-powered healthcare hub aims to connect users with trusted medical services through smart care navigation.

Project Lifeline secured second runner-up. The AI-supported personal safety and emergency preparedness platform is designed to help users maintain communication and respond effectively during emergencies.

In recognition of their achievements, all three winning teams will receive one year of free access to premium AI tools. They will also receive guidance and mentorship from subject-matter experts to help turn their ideas into practical, effective solutions with employment potential.

The event was attended by Grameenphone Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Yasir Azman; Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Tanveer Mohammad; Chief Financial Officer Otto Magne Risbakk; Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer Andreas Høgberg; and Head of Environment Social Governance (ESG) Farhana Islam. Other senior Grameenphone officials, instructors and Grameenphone Academy learners were also present.

Speaking about the initiative, Grameenphone CEO Yasir Azman said, “As AI continues to reshape the way we learn, work and create opportunities, it is important that young people have access to the skills and practical experiences needed to participate in this transformation. At Grameenphone, this philosophy is reflected in our AI&I strategy, where AI is no longer experimental but increasingly embedded across our people, operations and hyper-personalized customer experiences.

“We believe the future belongs not to AI alone, but to people empowered to use it responsibly and meaningfully. As we build future-ready capabilities within Grameenphone, we are equally committed to extending this ambition beyond our organization. We believe geographical barriers should not limit opportunities. With the right mindset and skills, young people can thrive in both local and global markets, regardless of where they are.

“Through Grameenphone Academy, we aim to go beyond providing access to learning by enabling young people to apply their knowledge, solve real-world problems and create meaningful value. The AI Bootcamp reflects this commitment, helping learners transform their ideas into tangible solutions while building the confidence and capabilities needed to thrive in an increasingly AI-driven world.”
