Apple Unveils HomeView Smart Home Hub, Upgraded Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini 2
Technology giant Apple has unveiled a range of new products at its special “Welcome Home” event in New York, aiming to strengthen its position in the smart home technology market. The biggest attraction was the long-awaited HomeView, Apple's first dedicated smart home hub.
Featuring a 7-inch tiltable Liquid Retina touchscreen combined with a base speaker, the device can be placed on a table or countertop or mounted on a wall. Powered by the A18 chipset and equipped with built-in Siri AI, the hub can use facial recognition to identify different family members automatically and display their personalised calendars and notifications.
The device is priced at $299 and will be available on the market from November 13.
Upgraded Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini 2
At the event, Apple also unveiled the next-generation Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini 2 speakers, featuring a range of advanced capabilities.
Powered by the A19 chipset, the new Apple TV 4K supports hands-free Siri AI. Users can also connect up to four HomePod mini 2 speakers to enjoy an immersive surround-sound experience. Its remote features Find My and Precision Finding technologies, making it easier to locate the device.
Meanwhile, the HomePod mini 2, powered by the S10 chipset, introduces new colour options and an innovative “Sound Glow” feature that illuminates in rhythm with music. Priced at $149, the speaker will go on sale on October 30.
Apple Home Collection and Smart Devices
To expand and strengthen its smart home ecosystem, Apple announced a new initiative called the “Apple Home Collection” in collaboration with leading companies such as LG and Schneider.
The collection will include premium indoor and outdoor cameras, video doorbells, smart door locks, thermostats and temperature sensors. These devices will use Thread technology to maintain communication with one another even when Wi-Fi connectivity is unavailable. They will also store video through iCloud, with a focus on ensuring maximum privacy.
Apple expects these advanced products to make users' daily lives easier, more convenient and more secure.
