Neuralink Notes New Milestone: 12 Patients Worldwide Receive Brain Implants

Elon Musk’s brain-chip company Neuralink has announced that a total of 12 people worldwide have now received its implants. According to a June update, only seven severely paralyzed patients had previously been fitted with the chip and were controlling both digital and physical devices solely through thought, Reuters reported.
The company stated that patients have collectively used the implant for nearly 2,000 days, amassing more than 15,000 hours of experience.
In July, Neuralink announced that it would begin a clinical trial in the United Kingdom, collaborating with University College London Hospitals and Newcastle Hospitals.
It is notable that in June, Neuralink raised $650 million in funding. The company began human trials in 2024, after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) initially rejected its application in 2022 over safety concerns.
