Walton Unveils Solar Eco-System Tech
- Tech giant Walton has launched an integrated 'Solar Eco-System' technology capable of generating 32MW of solar power.
- Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury inaugurated the system as chief guest at Walton Corporate Office.
- The system features solar-hybrid appliances, energy storage, and net metering to reduce fuel imports and save foreign exchange.
Tech giant Walton has established a new milestone in sustainable development by increasing the use of renewable energy, saving electricity, reducing carbon emissions, and fostering eco-friendly production in the industrial sector. The company has unveiled an integrated 'Solar Eco-System' technology to generate, store, and feed 100% eco-friendly solar power into the national grid while running daily electrical and electronic appliances in households.
On Saturday, Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury officially inaugurated the 'Walton Solar Eco-System' as the chief guest at a grand ceremony held at the Walton Corporate Office in Bashundhara. The event was attended by Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC Chairman S M Shamsul Alam, Vice-Chairman S M Ashraful Alam, Managing Director S M Mahbubul Alam, and Directors S M Rezaউল Alam, S M Manjurul Alam Abhi, and Tahmina Afroz Tanna.
During the inauguration, it was revealed that under the solar eco-system initiative, Walton is generating 32 megawatts of solar power through rooftop and floating solar power projects at its manufacturing plants, equivalent to the total electricity demand of a major district town. A large portion of this generated power is used in internal manufacturing operations, while an average of 1,150 megawatt-hours of solar electricity is supplied annually to the national grid via net metering.
Chief Guest Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury praised Walton's initiative, stating that what Walton is doing with solar energy will spread across Bangladesh. He noted that it will significantly boost domestic power generation over the next couple of years, meet public demand at a lower cost, and reduce dependence on foreign fuel imports, thereby saving foreign exchange. Walton's Managing Director S M Mahbubul Alam emphasized that their goal is not just 'Made in Bangladesh', but innovating and developing technologies locally to showcase the country's capabilities on the global stage.
