Mobile financial service provider bKash has partnered with UNICEF to make donating to programmes for children in Bangladesh easier. Under the agreement, users will be able to contribute directly through the bKash app and the company's nationwide offline merchant network. All funds raised through the initiative will be spent on UNICEF programmes supporting children in Bangladesh.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Carla Haddad Mardini, UNICEF’s Global Director of Private Fundraising and Partnerships, and Kamal Quadir, Chief Executive Officer of bKash.

Mardini said the partnership with bKash, a popular and trusted digital platform, would help UNICEF connect with people and communities across Bangladesh more easily, securely and directly to support children's welfare.

She said UNICEF was pleased to implement the initiative as part of its ongoing efforts to secure essential assistance for children and expand fundraising opportunities.

“Children are the future of Bangladesh,” she said, adding that the partnership would help UNICEF reach more children with the services they need to survive, learn and develop.

Mardini also emphasised that every contribution, regardless of its amount, could change a child's life and help create a better future.

Donations through the app and merchant network

Under the agreement, bKash users can log in to the app, select UNICEF from the ‘Donation’ section and contribute directly. Donations can also be made through bKash’s extensive offline merchant network across the country.

UNICEF will have a permanent presence in the app’s Donation section under the agreement. The arrangement is expected to expand access to donations while creating more opportunities to raise awareness and mobilise funds for children.

Kamal Quadir said bKash was working to create practical opportunities that support social progress. He said the company had established the country’s first digital donation platform, enabling customers to contribute conveniently to causes of their choice.

He added that the partnership with UNICEF would accelerate efforts to build a brighter future for children.

Funding education, healthcare and protection

All funds raised through the initiative will support UNICEF programmes for children in Bangladesh. These include helping children access quality education and essential healthcare, protecting them from violence and exploitation, and providing life-saving assistance during emergencies.

Each donation made through bKash will directly support initiatives designed to help children grow up safely, live healthier lives and look towards the future with hope.
