Accelerating technological modernization and integrating Fourth Industrial Revolution disciplines within higher education, the University Grants Commission (UGC) is steering major development initiatives at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR). Speaking as a special guest following the foundation-laying ceremony of the "Shaheed Abu Sayed Gate" on 09 October, Friday, UGC Member Prof. Dr. Abdullah-Al-Mamun announced that a comprehensive development scheme for the university will be submitted to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for approval by December this year.
Outlining structural academic reforms, the UGC member highlighted that the institutional organogram is being re-engineered to incorporate high-tech specializations. As part of this curriculum modernization, dedicated academic departments covering artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, cybersecurity, and data science will be established swiftly, preparing graduates for specialized frontiers in global tech ecosystems.
Prof. Dr. Abdullah-Al-Mamun noted that the July uprising remains a pivotal historic event globally, emphasizing that the sacrifices made by Shaheed Abu Sayed will endure across historical records. Addressing foundational academic needs alongside technological advancement, he affirmed that transparent faculty recruitment drives will commence shortly to address longstanding teaching staff shortages.
The forthcoming ECNEC development project is slated to scale campus infrastructural facilities, build specialized scientific laboratories, and enhance computing environments. Reaffirming the commission's institutional backing, he committed strategic resources to establish BRUR as a leading center for technological and academic excellence in the northern region. //DBTech/BVNLC/SME/DPO//
