Addressing the societal ramifications of machine learning algorithms and emerging frontier technologies, Bangladesh has called for institutional governance mechanisms to oversee artificial intelligence deployment across educational paradigms. Delivering the National Statement at the 225th Session of the UNESCO Executive Board in Paris, France, on 08 October, Thursday, Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division Abdul Khalek presented the country's technological and pedagogical priorities before the international community.

Presided over by the Chair of the UNESCO Executive Board, Nasser bin Hamad Al-Hinzab of Qatar, the high-level diplomatic assembly addressed global multilateral educational strategies. Abdul Khalek stated that UNESCO must adopt progressive strategic blueprints to match the velocity of AI-driven systems. He emphasized that establishing regulatory frameworks governing AI within UNESCO’s operational mandate is essential to safeguarding future generations and ethical knowledge systems.

Highlighting ongoing structural reforms in domestic learning ecosystems, he affirmed that the administration under Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is deploying concrete interventions to dismantle educational barriers. Enhancing gross school enrollment ratios, curbing early dropouts, and ensuring sustained classroom retention from the foundational stages remain core national priorities.

He noted that comprehensive 21st-century education must nurture multi-dimensional, resilient citizens. To achieve this objective, the national curriculum has formally integrated sports as an accredited subject, successfully mobilizing over two million youth participants across nationwide athletics programs to date.

The National Statement further underscored mother-tongue-based multilingual pedagogies to solidify foundational learning, paired with nutrition drives and social safety nets. Bangladesh is expanding technical and vocational education and training (TVET) infrastructures, guaranteeing inclusive educational access for climate-vulnerable communities, and scaling tuition-free educational pipelines to advance women's economic empowerment.
