The 3rd International Conference on Machine Intelligence and Emerging Technologies (MIET-2026) commenced at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) on Thursday (October 8). Organized by the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, the two-day event focuses on artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, robotics, and data science, bringing together global researchers and technology experts through Friday (October 9).

Out of 335 submitted research papers, only 54 were selected for publication following a rigorous review process by 211 reviewers across 50 institutions, yielding an acceptance rate of approximately 16 percent.

According to the organizers, the proceedings of MIET-2026 will be published in the Lecture Notes in Networks and Systems (LNNS) series, indexed in DBLP, EI Compendex, INSPEC, SCImago, and Scopus, ensuring global academic visibility for the presented research.

Chaired by NSTU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Golam Robbani, the inaugural ceremony featured Md. Anwar Hossain, Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, as the chief guest. Special guests included Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Hasan Uddin, and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology Professor Dr. Md. Ashraful Alam.

Speaking at the event, Science and Technology Secretary Md. Anwar Hossain stated that AI presents both immense opportunities and challenges, necessitating a shift toward an innovation-based economy. He highlighted Bangladesh's potential in high-tech sectors like semiconductors, noting that over 1,000 innovations were submitted to the National Innovation Fair 2026. He stated that the ministry is actively working to transform these innovations into commercialized products and emphasized that collaborative efforts can secure private and international funding.

Delivering his address, NSTU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Golam Robbani stated that emerging technologies like AI, machine learning, cybersecurity, and robotics are profoundly transforming society. He emphasized that research must extend beyond laboratories to solve practical human challenges. He noted that technological progress in developing nations must remain inclusive and accessible, with universities playing a pivotal role in nurturing future innovators.

He further stated that researchers from nearly 50 institutions participated in the conference, with 24 percent of the accepted papers featuring foreign institution involvement, serving as a key driver toward the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Organizers noted that the conference serves as a global platform for knowledge exchange through paper presentations and technical sessions on cutting-edge technologies. The two-day international event will conclude its secondary sessions tomorrow, Friday (October 9).
