Samsung Leads Global Smartphone Shipments
- Samsung held 21.8% of global smartphone shipments in January–June.
- Apple ranked second with a 20.9% market share.
- Global smartphone shipments fell 7% year-on-year in Q2
South Korean technology company Samsung led global smartphone shipments during the first six months of 2026, securing a 21.8% share of the worldwide market from January to June. According to recently published data from Counterpoint Research, Samsung maintained its leading position amid pressure on the global smartphone market while also recording shipment growth.
Apple ranked second during the first half of the year with a 20.9% market share, followed by Xiaomi at 11.4%, OPPO at 10.3% and vivo at 7.6%, according to Counterpoint Research.
The global smartphone market, however, faced pressure during the second quarter. Worldwide smartphone shipments declined 7% year-on-year between April and June. Rising component costs and broader pressures on the global economy affected market performance during the period.
Despite the market contraction, Samsung’s smartphone shipments increased 9% compared with the same period a year earlier. Counterpoint Research attributed the growth in part to favorable pricing and Samsung’s competitive position in the market.
The shipment growth during the first half further strengthened Samsung’s position in the global smartphone market. Mobile technology innovations, an integrated ecosystem across devices and consumer interest in high-performance smartphones have contributed to the company’s market expansion.
Samsung’s smartphone use and customer loyalty have also continued across international markets, including Bangladesh. During the second half of the year, the company is focusing on introducing new technologies and products aligned with consumer needs and expectations.
