Driven by network engineering and digital transformation, consumers in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region are leading global online trends while becoming increasingly vulnerable to cyber risks. According to Kaspersky's B2C Pulse Survey, APAC consumers surpass global averages in online shopping (80%), digital finance (72%), digital entertainment (70%), and online communications (68%).

Concerns over cybercrime are also high, with 35% of APAC users expressing anxiety regarding digital exploitation compared to the 32% global average. Thailand leads regional awareness at 39%, followed by Malaysia (38%), Indonesia (35%), China (34%), India (32%), and Vietnam (31%).

Mobile Security Threats 2025: Malware, Phishing & Statistics

Chun Hong Chi, Head of Consumer Channel for APAC at Kaspersky, emphasized that with 70% of transactions relying on digital wallets and mobile subscriptions projected to reach 2.11 billion by 2030, cybersecurity is essential. During Q1 2026, Kaspersky intercepted nearly 30,000 mobile security incidents in the region. India (18,187) and Indonesia (15,163) logged the highest volume of attacks. Year-on-year attack spikes were recorded in Taiwan (373%), Sri Lanka (132%), Thailand (127%), Bangladesh (108%), China (69%), and the Philippines (28%).

Because mobile devices often lack robust endpoint security comparable to PCs, cybercriminals are shifting focus toward smartphones. To mitigate phishing, malware, and fraudulent calls, Kaspersky highlights embedding solutions like Mobile Security SDK, Who Calls SDK, and Safe Web directly into mobile platforms.
