- Financial aid mobilized through administration, department, and online crowdfunding
- Rapid medical transport and emergency support ensured smooth operation
Integrating science, engineering, technology, and online communication networks, Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) has demonstrated a swift humanitarian response. The university administration, along with hall authorities, extended comprehensive financial and medical coordination for Bakhtiar Hasin, an 18th batch Political Science student injured at the Abdul Malek Ukuk Hall.
On 22 August, Saturday, Bakhtiar Hasin sustained severe injuries after accidentally slipping on accumulated water near the hall staircase, fracturing his kneecap (patella). Doctors advised immediate surgical intervention. Following the incident, University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Golam Rabbani and Malek Ukil Hall Provost Professor Dr. Md. Masud Kaiyum actively monitored his medical status and arranged prompt assistance.
To cover medical expenditures, digital methods including online crowdfunding were leveraged alongside institutional funds. The university administration contributed BDT 30,000, his department provided BDT 10,000, and BDT 21,000 was raised via online crowdfunding. Additionally, former NSTU coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, Zahidul Islam Hasan, along with peers, assisted with hospital logistics. On 24 August, Monday night, Hasin successfully underwent surgery in Naogaon and is currently in stable condition.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Golam Rabbani told the media that Hasin was initially referred from Noakhali Sadar Hospital to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) in Dhaka, and was dispatched via university ambulance. Later, upon his family's decision, he was taken to Naogaon where a surgeon from NITOR conducted the surgery. Relevant sources confirmed that despite financial constraints, maximum institutional support was ensured for his speedy recovery.
