The 310th Commission Meeting of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) is scheduled to take place on Monday, August 24. Chaired by BTRC Chairman Major General Md Emdad Ul Bari (Retd.), the meeting will be held in the commission's conference room (Room No. 304) to discuss a 35-point agenda covering regulatory reforms, network enforcement, and financial oversight
A major topic on the agenda includes revising transaction limits for Direct Operator Billing (DOB) for mobile operators following guidelines from Bangladesh Bank
To enforce regulatory compliance, BTRC will evaluate legal actions, including license cancellations and administrative fines, against ISPs that failed to submit operational data to the DIS portal over the past six months. Other regulatory items involve enlisting BTCL as an A2P SMS aggregator, reconsidering administrative fines on Novocom Ltd, and resolving the 'Conflict of Interest' regarding the audit firm assigned to Grameenphone.
On the financial front, the commission will review unrecovered fixed deposits held at Padma Bank PLC (formerly Farmers Bank), outstanding dues from IGW and ITC operators, and future revenue targets. Requests from Bangladesh Police and RAB regarding delay fee waivers on demand notes, rollout extensions for submarine cable license holders, and internal staff administrative appeals will also be addressed during the session.
