State Minister for Planning Zonayed Saki has called for technology transfer and stronger international partnerships to accelerate the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
He made the urge while delivering Bangladesh's national statement during the general debate at the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development held at the United Nations Headquarters on Tuesday, 14 July. He emphasized the crucial need to democratize modern technological knowledge and innovations worldwide.
In his speech, the State Minister noted that following the national election in February 2026, the newly formed government has been actively implementing the 'Recovery, Restoration, and Reconstruction' (3R) strategy to restore economic stability, strengthen institutional capacity, and solidify the foundation for sustainable development. Technological modernization is serving as a primary catalyst in this transformative journey.
Highlighting various priority initiatives, the minister detailed the increase in public investment in education and healthcare, excavation of 20,000 kilometers of rivers and canals over five years, planting of 250 million trees, and expansion of renewable energy and green industries. Additionally, the government is strengthening rural livelihoods and food security through life-cycle-based universal social protection and the deployment of data-driven 'Farmers Cards' to boost agricultural productivity.
Reaffirming Bangladesh's commitment to sustainable progress, he urged development partners to expand grants, soft loans, technology transfer, and international collaboration.
