Within just 2 years and 3 months of its official debut in Bangladesh, the world's leading New Energy Vehicle (NEV) manufacturer, BYD, has achieved a groundbreaking milestone by crossing 1,000 sales on the country's roads. Starting from March 2024 to June 2026, the Chinese electric vehicle brand has kick-started a new era after successfully crossing ten major milestones. To celebrate this historic achievement, a colorful event titled ‘Driven by 1,000’ was organized on Sunday, July 12, at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel in the capital. As the crimson glow of the evening was setting over the rain-flooded streets of Dhaka, the celebration began in a majestic atmosphere by inviting both the first-ever customer and the one-thousand-th customer together onto the stage. The authorities showcased the expansion and success story of their business through a timeline video based on old photographs.

Driven by the global vision of cooling the earth by 1 degree Celsius through green technology, BYD began its journey in Bangladesh on March 3, 2024. The brand established itself as the country's first official NEV brand by launching its flagship electric sedan, the ‘BYD Seal’. By September of the same year, they enriched their portfolio by launching the popular ‘BYD Atto 3’. To demonstrate the efficiency of electric mobility, they organized the country's first-ever 1200 km range challenge titled 'Seal and Atto 3 Quest' in February 2025. Responding to growing customer demand, BYD simultaneously opened two new showrooms in Nasirabad, Chattogram, and Uttara, Dhaka, in August 2025. Moving forward, they successfully completed the 'Cross Country Endurance Drive' from one end of Bangladesh to the other in September 2025. Consequently, by December 2025, more than 400 BYD vehicles were successfully running across the country, wrapping up the year with remarkable growth.

At the beginning of the new year in January 2026, the brand expanded its network by inaugurating a new showroom in Tejgaon, Dhaka. Following this, the 'BYD Sealion 6' SUV was introduced to the market in February, setting a new record by delivering 25 units of Seal and Sealion 6 on the launch day itself. In April 2026, BYD took an adventurous step through its 'Summit Drive,' where the Seal and Sealion 6 successfully reached the peak of Keokradong, one of the highest peaks in the country. Following this feat, a mass delivery event was held in May, handing over more than 30 Sealion 6 vehicles to customers simultaneously. In the same month, the network was further strengthened with the opening of the Elisen Exclusive Showroom and the Tongi Showroom. To ensure top-notch after-sales support, the company expanded its spare parts network in June by onboarding 3 authorized dealers. As a result, more than 4,000 customer services were successfully completed by June. Simultaneously, the second quarter (Q2) sales of 2026 surpassed the total annual sales of 2025, bringing record-breaking growth for the brand, which ultimately led to the historic landmark of 1,000 vehicles on Bangladesh roads in July.

The grand ceremony was attended by Ketsu Zhang, Deputy General Manager of BYD Asia-Pacific Auto Sales Division; Hafizur Rahman Khan, Chairman of BYD Bangladesh; Amid Sakif Khan, Managing Director; Charles Ren, Country Manager; and Imtiaz Nowsher, Chief Marketing Officer. Expressing gratitude to partners and buyers, Managing Director Amid Sakif Khan stated that reaching the milestone of 1,000 NEVs is a moment of great pride for BYD Bangladesh, reflecting the growing consumer trust in world-class products. Chief Marketing Officer Imtiaz Nowsher also reiterated their firm commitment to working relentlessly towards establishing a clean, smart, and eco-friendly transportation ecosystem in the country.
