Bangladesh reaffirms commitment to building inclusive and citizen-centric digital government at UN forum
At the UN Public Service Forum 2026 in Tbilisi, Georgia, Bangladesh’s Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam highlighted the country’s plans for inclusive Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), citizen participation and digital-first governance. He said DPI is not only about technology but also a key tool for ensuring good governance.
Bangladesh’s Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam participated in a high-level roundtable discussion at the ‘United Nations Public Service Forum 2026’ held in Tbilisi, Georgia.
During the session, the minister presented Bangladesh’s future plans on inclusive Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), ensuring citizen participation in public services and building a citizen-friendly digital government system.

n his remarks, Fakir Mahbub Anam said, “For Bangladesh, DPI is not merely a matter of technology; it is one of the key instruments of good governance. Our goal is to ensure that a citizen in a remote area can access government services as easily as a resident of the capital.”
He said the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, is committed to building a digital-first government system.
The minister said citizens are currently accessing government services through platforms including the government payment platform ‘EkPay’, ‘myGov’ application, National Information Portal and the ‘333’ helpline.
He added that the government is working to ensure affordable and quality internet connectivity and smart devices for all citizens within the next three years.
Highlighting citizen feedback mechanisms, the minister said citizens can directly submit opinions and complaints through the Cabinet Division’s Grievance Redress System (GRS) and e-Participation platform.
He also mentioned that the government plans to introduce an ‘e-Participation Ranking’ system in the future to further strengthen accountability of public institutions.
