Govt Launches Pilot ‘Krishak Card’ Program with Axentec’s Secure Connectivity Support
The government has experimentally launched its “Krishak Card” program following its inauguration in Tangail. Sonali Bank PLC is receiving technological support from Axentec PLC for the implementation of the initiative. The company is ensuring secure and reliable connectivity for the pilot program.
According to sources, farmers are now able to access various financial services easily through Point of Sale (POS) machines using the Krishak Card. With dual-SIM functionality in these machines, uninterrupted network connectivity is being ensured even in rural and suburban areas.
In the first phase, approximately 22,000 farmers across 11 agricultural blocks in 11 upazilas of 10 districts are receiving the cards. The government plans to gradually expand the Krishak Card distribution program nationwide.
Axentec PLC, a subsidiary of Robi Axiata PLC, is providing technological support to Sonali Bank in implementing part of the service. The solution has been deployed through Axentec’s “Robi Secure Connect” service-based secure connectivity infrastructure.
As a result, the entire network is operating with encrypted, reliable, and high-capacity communication systems, which are considered crucial for secure transactions and fast service delivery.
Regarding the initiative, Md. Adil Hossain Nobel, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Axentec PLC, said, “We are proud to support Sonali Bank in this important government initiative. Through this program, we are able to deliver secure digital services to grassroots communities, which will benefit farmers. It will play a significant role in strengthening Bangladesh’s economy.”
