CUET Celebrates Bangla New Year with Festive Procession, Cultural Programs
Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) has celebrated the Bengali New Year in a festive atmosphere. On Tuesday, 14 April, “Bangla New Year 1433” was observed through a day-long series of programs.
The day’s activities began in the morning in front of Administrative Building-2 with the singing of the National Anthem. This was followed by a colorful procession brought out to the tune of the song “Esho He Boishakh.” Teachers, students, officers, and employees participated in the procession carrying festoons, placards, banners, and various other materials.
After the procession, a discussion meeting was held at the campus roundabout. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiyan attended the event as the chief guest. He said that Pahela Baishakh is a traditional festival of Bengalis, which unites people of all religions and castes and conveys the message of harmony and goodwill.
Special guests included Professor Dr. Kazi Delwar Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Professor Dr. Muhammad Rashidul Hasan, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Planning. Greeting speeches were delivered by Registrar (Additional Charge) Professor Dr. Sheikh Mohammad Humayun Kabir, while Professor Dr. Bipul Chandra Mondal spoke on behalf of the provosts.
The program was presided over by Acting Director of the Student Welfare Department, Dr. Md. Muktar Hossain. It was conducted by Deputy Director (Public Relations) Mohammad Fazlur Rahman and Assistant Librarian Sharmin Sultana Tama.
On the occasion of the day, various programs including panta bhojan, friendly kabaddi matches, and kite flying were held. Organizers said these activities further enlivened the joy of the New Year and spread a festive atmosphere across the campus.
