Nagad Sets New Transaction Record with Tk 2,147.43 Crore in a Single Day
Nagad, the mobile financial service of the Bangladesh Post Office, has set a new milestone by recording transactions worth Tk 2,147 crore 43 lakh in a single day.
On Thursday, 26 March, Nagad authorities said the record was achieved on 19 March, one day ahead of the recently celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr. The momentum continued on the following day (20 March), when transactions through Nagad amounted to Tk 2,064 crore 56 lakh.
During this period, the number of transactions also doubled compared to regular days. Typically, customers collectively use Nagad around 7.5 million to 8 million times per day, but during this peak period, daily transactions exceeded 10 million. On 19 March, customers conducted a total of 16.3 million transactions through Nagad, while the following day saw more than 15.2 million transactions.
However, crossing the Tk 2,000 crore mark in a single day is not new for Nagad, as the platform has previously achieved similar milestones. This time, however, the company has surpassed all its previous records.
Most of the transactions during these two days were concentrated in cash-in, cash-out, send money, government allowance disbursement, mobile recharge, and payment services.
