European football’s governing body UEFA is planning to launch its own streaming platform, which could be implemented during the 2027–2031 broadcasting rights cycle. The primary objective is to directly reach the vast football audience in Asia and generate new revenue streams.

The project will be managed by UC3 (Union of European Clubs Three), a joint initiative formed by UEFA and Europe’s top clubs. Initially, the platform is expected to focus on major markets such as India or Indonesia. Similar to the English Premier League’s initiative to launch its own app, UEFA also aims to deliver content directly to fans.

According to international sports analysts, the push to enhance technology-driven fan experiences has also played a role behind this initiative. Following the reconciliation between UEFA and Real Madrid over the controversial European Super League issue, greater emphasis has been placed on modern broadcasting and digital engagement. Many believe that this streaming initiative is a key reason why clubs have stepped back from the Super League project.

Meanwhile, certain decisions regarding the UEFA Champions League format have been retained. The rule preventing teams from the same country from facing each other in the league phase remains unchanged, despite calls from some clubs to abolish it. However, from the knockout stage (Round of Sixteen) onward, there will be no restriction on clubs from the same country facing each other.

From a sports-entertainment perspective, the launch of UEFA’s streaming platform would allow fans to access matches, highlights, documentaries, and exclusive content in one place—potentially making the future football viewing experience more personalized and interactive.
