OpenAI Offers Adult Options from December
Artificial intelligence company OpenAI is set to allow adult users access to erotica and mature content starting this December. The announcement was confirmed on Tuesday by the company’s CEO, Sam Altman, according to a report by Engadget.
Altman stated that OpenAI had introduced parental control and automatic age verification systems in September. As the next step, the company now plans to distinguish between adult and underage users, granting verified adults additional freedoms. Altman said, “In December, as part of our ‘treating adults like adults’ policy, we will grant verified users access to erotica content.”
During the recent DevDay 2025 event, OpenAI also revealed plans to launch mature applications and experiences for users aged 18 and above, complete with proper age verification and moderation controls.
However, concerns persist about the psychological impact of ChatGPT use. Following controversy surrounding the suicide of a 16-year-old boy allegedly linked to ChatGPT interactions, OpenAI has incorporated enhanced safety features into its GPT-5 model.
