PM to Launch Nationwide ‘Krishak Card’ Distribution on Pohela Boishakh

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will inaugurate the nationwide distribution of the ‘Krishak Card’ on 14 April, Pohela Boishakh. The government expects that once the card is introduced, it will make access to fertilizers, seeds, and other government incentives and assistance easier and more transparent for farmers.

The decision to set the launch date for the card distribution was taken at a high-level meeting on the ‘Krishak Card’ held at the Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat on Sunday, 15 March, at 11:00 am. The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

According to meeting sources, the Prime Minister will formally inaugurate the initiative on the occasion of Pohela Boishakh, one of the most cherished festivals of the Bengali people. Following the launch, the cards will be distributed to farmers across the country in phases.

The important meeting held at the Parliament Secretariat was attended by Agriculture Minister Amin Ur Rashid and State Minister Sultan Salauddin Tuku.

Among others present at the meeting were the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Finance and Planning Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Adviser on Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Rehan Asif Asad, and State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam.
