CAAB Chairman Inspects Shah Amanat International Airport Ahead of ICAO Audit

The Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), Air Vice Marshal Md. Mostafa Mahmud Siddique, visited Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram to review the airport’s operational activities and the preparedness of its security arrangements.

During the inspection, CAAB Member (Operations) Air Commodore Abu Sayeed Mehbub Khan and Member (Security) Air Commodore Md. Asif Iqbal, along with officials from various levels of CAAB, were present.

On the occasion, the CAAB Chairman instructed authorities to accelerate the progress of the airport’s operational activities, enhance the quality of passenger services, take effective measures to reduce passenger inconvenience, and further strengthen the airport’s overall security system. He also directed concerned officials to ensure the necessary preparations to successfully face the upcoming audit by the International Civil Aviation Organization.

The Chairman further emphasized the proper implementation of the standards and recommendations set by ICAO.

Ahead of the upcoming ICAO Audit-2026, the CAAB Chairman visited the airport on Tuesday, 10 March.

At the beginning of the visit, the Director of Shah Amanat International Airport, Group Captain Sheikh Abdullah Alomgir, briefed the Chairman in detail on the various initiatives undertaken in preparation for the upcoming ICAO audit, including infrastructural development, operational readiness, and strengthened security arrangements.

The briefing highlighted measures taken to enhance the airport’s operational capacity, improve passenger services, modernise security systems, and ensure compliance with international standards.

Later, the CAAB Chairman conducted an on-site inspection of several key areas of the airport. During the visit, he inspected the perimeter defense wall, arrival and departure areas, the VOR installation, and other important operational and security-related facilities of the airport.

During the inspection, he also held a courtesy interaction with passengers and listened to their experiences and expectations regarding the airport’s services and facilities.

Taking the passengers’ feedback into consideration, he instructed the concerned authorities to take necessary steps to further improve the standard of passenger services.
