Eid Expresses: Bangladesh Railway Launches Advanced Intercity Ticket Sale
Bangladesh Railway has commenced a special advance ticket sale for intercity trains to ensure smooth travel for homebound passengers during the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Fitr. For the convenience of travelers, 100% of the tickets are being sold online.
On the second day of the advance ticket sale, from 8:00 am on Wednesday, 4 March, tickets for trains running on 14 March became available. While tickets for the western region were accessible in the morning, sales for all eastern region intercity trains will begin at 2:00 pm.
Passengers can obtain their tickets through the ‘Rail Seba’ app and the Bangladesh Railway website.
According to Bangladesh Railway, tickets for 15 March will be available on 5 March, 16 March tickets on 6 March, 17 March tickets on 7 March, 18 March tickets on 8 March, and 19 March tickets on 9 March.
Railway sources stated that return journey tickets will be available from 13 March, continuing until 19 March, with tickets for travel from 23 to 29 March released sequentially.
To manage the increased passenger flow during Eid, the railway has decided to operate a total of 20 special trains, including five pairs of additional services. Furthermore, 47 extra meter-gauge coaches will be added from the Pahartali Workshop. The authorities also confirmed that the weekly off for all intercity trains will be suspended from 16 March until the day before Eid.
