Prime Minister Tarique Rahman Moves to Modernize Dhaka Traffic System

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has undertaken an initiative to reorganize the capital’s traffic management system in a bid to ease Dhaka’s chronic congestion. To this end, a high-level consultative meeting was held on Monday morning, 2 March, at the Prime Minister’s Office in the Secretariat with relevant experts.

Additional Press Secretary to the Prime Minister, Atikur Rahman Ruman, confirmed the matter.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister held discussions with a team of experts led by Professor Dr. Shamsul Haque, an engineer and transport specialist from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). The Prime Minister sought opinions and recommendations from the experts on modernizing the traffic system and implementing strategic changes to reduce congestion in the capital and make public life more comfortable.

On the same day, Tarique Rahman also held discussions with architects regarding the renovation and architectural development of the graves of former President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, located in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.

While at the Secretariat, the Prime Minister held two separate meetings with Housing and Public Works Minister Zakaria Taher Suman and Liberation War Affairs Minister Hafiz Uddin Ahmed. The meetings focused on the progress of ongoing projects and administrative activities under the respective ministries.

It is noted that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman arrived at the Secretariat at 9:13 a.m. from his Gulshan residence. Since assuming office, he has been regularly attending official duties at the Secretariat.
