Bangladesh Army Reshuffles Six Senior Positions
Major General Mohammad Hakimuzzaman Made Commandant at MIST
The Bangladesh Army has brought changes to six more important positions at its higher command level. As part of the reshuffle, Major General Md. Nasim Parvez has been deputed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from his post as Commandant of the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST). In his place, Major General Mohammad Hakimuzzaman, who had been serving as Adjutant General, has been assigned the duty of Commandant of MIST.
An order in this regard was issued from Army Headquarters on Thursday, February 26. The matter has been confirmed by the Ministry of Defence and relevant sources.
According to sources, under the remaining changes, Lieutenant General Mohammad Shaheenul Haque, Commandant of the National Defence College (NDC), has been appointed as Quarter Master General (QMG). He will replace Lieutenant General Faizur Rahman, who had been serving as QMG. Lieutenant General Faizur Rahman has been transferred to the National Defence College.
In addition, Major General Mohammad Hossain Al Morshed from the 19 Infantry Division has been appointed as Adjutant General of the Army. Major General Mohammad Kamrul Hasan, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 66 Infantry Division, has been transferred as GOC of the Logistics Area.
Earlier, on Sunday, February 22, Lieutenant General Md. Mainur Rahman was appointed Chief of General Staff (CGS) at Army Headquarters from the Army Training and Doctrine Command (ARTDOC). Meanwhile, Major General Mir Mushfiqur Rahman, General Officer Commanding of the 24 Infantry Division, was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General and appointed as Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of the Armed Forces Division. Lieutenant General S M Kamrul Hasan, who had been serving as PSO, was deputed from the Armed Forces Division (AFD) to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an ambassador.
It is noteworthy that the newly appointed MIST Commandant, Mohammad Hakimuzzaman, was commissioned in the Corps of Engineers on December 20, 1992, from the 27th BMA Long Course. He has served as Commanding Officer of the 18th Engineers Battalion and as Commander of the 88th Infantry Brigade. He was also the Chief Operations Officer of the Army War Games Centre. Most recently, he served as Adjutant General of the Bangladesh Army.
